Mr. Mike Raggett, working with BBC Learning English for developing the series of language support television programs for transmission in 2010. The programs will give young people an opportunity to learn everyday English in an entertaining way through high quality, BBC-produced television programs. The prime target audience is among 18-30 years olds who have some command of English but who rarely use it. The program may broadcast through Channel I or through BTV. But as many rural people don’t have access of either BTV or Channel I, so they intend to produce DVD content too which may distribute to the telecentres or school based CLCs to catch their target groups. In this connection Mr. Mike Raggett visited four Computer Literacy Centers in Khulna region, the centers are; Shamsuddin-Nahar Trust, Macferson Public Library, Bagerhat Bahumukhi High School and Sheela Roy Chowdhury Secondary School on July 7-8, 2009, to see the present IT infrastructure in the rural areas and educational institutions in Bangladesh.
Mr. Mike was very surprised to see the total procedure and the trainees of those centers. He conveyed his best regards to those who are providing financial and mental support to run Computer Literacy Program.
