VAB-New Jersey, USA

The New Jersey Chapter of Volunteers Association for Bangladesh, is a pioneer in spreading computer  literacy among the underprivileged youths in rural Bangladesh.

Computer Literacy Program (CLP)

We promote knowledge and usage of computers and information technology among the underprivileged youths in Bangladesh . As of  December 2012, 211 CLCs and 92 Associate CLCs has been established in 56 districts,  500 teacher’s (20% female) were trained for CLCs operations. British Council Bangladesh support for establishing 15 CLCs in different schools in Bangladesh. Total 69,680 (49% Girl’s) learners  successfully completed a hands-on 40 hours course.

Smart Class Room (SCR)

The Smart Class Room project intends to bring the educational opportunities provided by advances in personal computers, Internet, educational CDs, and ICT-based interactive learning materials to secondary school students in rural Bangladesh. Over three years 100 SCRs will be established.  Every SCR is equipped with a large screen monitor, a laptop, educational CDs for Science, English, Geometry and Geography, and Internet connection. These audio-visual and interactive learning materials will enhance students’ learning experience, and serve as useful tools for teachers. British Council Bangladesh take initiative for establishing SCR  in different schools total 50 SCRs will be established. As of December 2012, 120  SCRs has been established  and 480  (20% female) teacher’s were trained.

Smart Class Room: An Introduction

 

VAB, USA

Parent organization, VAB, USA mainly focuses on general education in high school. It improves the education of underprivileged students in rural Bangladesh by providing scholarships, tutoring, teacher training and equipment. VAB sponsored schools have consistently scored higher than the national average in the SSC examination, beating most better-equipped and manned urban schools.
